SCOLIOSIS

When the spine curves or twists excessively it can be abnormal and it is called scoliosis. In most cases of scoliosis, the cause is unknown, but it can be caused by conditions such as muscular distrophy, tumor, infection, cerebral palsy, a birth deformity or disc problems. In severe cases, scoliosis sufferes can have breathing or heart problems if the curve is very severe.

According to Clinical Orthaepedics and Related Research, 1988,a contributing factor to scoliosis can be a disturbance or defect in the area of the nervous system that controls posture, body balance and postitioning.

This is why Chiropractic care can be beneficial, because the purpose of chiropractic is to reduce any interference of the proper functioning of the nervous system that is caused by spinal misalignment.
